Zaha Hadid

Since childhood I have known that there's strenght inside of me.

Zaha Hadid was born in Bagdad. When she was 10, she decided to become an architect. And she did so. One of the most remarkable of XX century. Zaha loved pushing the boundaries and, thanks to that, she created buldings that seem atypical and marvellous at the same time. Her work was really diverse. She built both huge science centres and opera houses as well as fire stations, ski jump and bus stops. Zaha's imagination and ambition resulted in amazing projects but sometimes they were even "too amazing". Even when she overcame technical and constructional restrictions, sometimes it was hard to fit in financial limits. The monumentality of her projects was then an asset for some and a disadvantage for the others. One thing can be said surely: she was not a person that goes unnoticed.

Zaha Hadid was a complicated person. Professional, absolutely commited to career and strict regarding herself and her associates. But she had to work harder than the others. Why? Because she was a woman and had to blaze a trial. Zaha admitted that feminism was her biggest inspiration. She was the first woman that received The Pritzker Architecture Prize.

Her brother reportedly said that "she could have become the first Iraqi astronaut if she had wanted to".
